The intention of this blog is that it will become a record of how we bought this Grade II-listed Cotswold stone house in a conservation area, what is done to restore some dignity to it, and some of the detailed technical issues that will doubtless arise in the course of the restoration. There will be lots of boring detail, in particular about lime mortar/plaster and how to treat dampness, but I will include these as there ARE people out there who will want to know that sort of detail; the internet may be wonderful but most of the information is published by people selling things who therefore have a vested interest in maintaining the mystique of their speciality.
I have been encouraged by my family to do this blog. In particular, they are probably relieved that now I will stop boring them with my knowledge of lime mortar and dampness in old buildings, and put it into practice!
